MM6 (Maison Martin Margiela) opens its first MM6 store in the USA in the West Village. The petite yet cozy boutique has retained the original landmark façade and carried the momentum to the interior by restoring the original metal ceilings and incorporating them into the store’s functional millwork design. The store’s designer also selected a soft gray carpet that has the image of a worn concrete floor which hints towards an industrial look yet is soft and plush to the touch. Completing the look is the use of the clear coated Birch plywood fixtures with bright chrome hang bars, back-lit wall panels and floating acrylic shelves. The mirrored changing room with recessed LED lighting is a must-see as it is something that you just can’t express in a photo.
