Room & Board’s massive Chelsea store takes full advantage of its high ceilings and abundant floor space. The stone and wood used for the store’s flooring was selected to match the theme of each showcase. A portion of the ground floor is covered in subtle camel toned stone, which serves as a beautiful neutral base. Substituting dark wooden squares for ceramic tile creates a unique effect and acts as an accent to the natural elements present in Room & Board’s furnishings. Upstairs, dark stone tiles lined with white grout lead up to a slightly raised light pine platform, creating a distinction between various outdoor offerings. The building’s tall windows are fitted with black trim to make them pop against white walls. This also creates a picture frame effect on the view outside, which features iconic New York brownstone buildings.
