Design Within Reach

Georgetown, DC

DFA Architecture

The bright red signage of Design Within Reach stands out against its DC location’s flint grey painted brick wall exterior. Inside, the original exposed brick wall stands two stories tall and is preserved to honor the building’s historical urban feel. Its industrial look is refined with smooth flooring that seamlessly transitions from stone to light pine. Just above the contemporary pinewood staircase bordered with glass partitions and white fascia are various lighting fixtures offered by Design Within Reach. Upstairs, the track lights are outfitted with black trims for added dimension. The store’s balcony showcases its outdoor collection and overlooks Georgetown. It’s outfitted with hardwood floors in a grey finish that complements both the store’s modern aesthetic and the historical district in which it exists.
