Future Made ArchitectureDescription
Totokaelo is the first fashion brand to inhabit 190 Bowery - a New York landmark built in 1898. It was originally a Germania Bank building designed by Architect Robert Maynicke, and was later home to photographer Jay Maisel (best known for his work with Miles Davis). The client based their design on the structure's original components, which resulted in innovative store features such as old bank vaults converted into fitting rooms, and a showroom space that maximizes the old basketball court Maisel installed during his 48 years in the space. The main focus for this project was to rehabilitate the space to fit the client's needs and meet safety standards while not just preserving, but also strengthening, the historical elements that makes the building so unique.
